Strawberry Walnut Preserves
Yield: 2 half pints
3 pints fresh ripe strawberries, hulled and washed, or 1
quart frozen berries
3 cups granulated sugar
1/3-cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup kirsch
1-1/4 cup chopped walnut
Combine all ingredients except walnuts in a heavy saucepan.
Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves - about 5 minutes.
Increase heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 30 minutes,
stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in walnuts.
Pack immediately into hot sterilized jars and process in a
boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Or, mixture can be
transferred into glass containers and refrigerated for use.
