Hi Nancy,
First off, good luck with the hand surgery. Hope all goes
well and your furry friends take great care of you during
your recovery. I was so sorry to hear of your accident. Your
weather is like what we are having here in central OK, so I
know you were miserable during your wait besides having the
anxiety over the mishap.
I grew up with my mother preparing what she called Mazetti,
but I never got the recipe from her, I thought. I wrote down
my remembered version and later did find her recipe after
her death.
Mazetti
In a large skillet brown 1lb. ground beef with 1/2 C. diced
onion, one half of a green pepper, diced and 1t. each of
garlic powder and chili powder.
Mix 1 can of tomato soup and 1 can cream of mushroom soup
with 1 can of water. Put aside. Cover the beef mixture with
dry tiny soup noodles (mine are found in the Mexican food
section and are called Fideo noodles).
Pour the soup mixture over all, DO NOT MIX, and cook for 25
minutes on medium/low heat. Top with 1C. shredded cheese and
cook for 5 more minutes.
