The following French Toast Casserole was
a hit at a Cursillo weekend and many
requested the recipe:
French Toast Casserole
1 to 2 loaves French bread
1 C milk
2 C cream
Pinch salt
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp vanilla
8 eggs
Cut bread in 3/4 to1-inch diagonal
slices and place in 9x13-inch baking
dish or pan. Mix rest of ingredients
together and pour over bread. Let it
soak overnight in the refrigerator. In
the morning preheat oven to 350°F. Mix
topping below, put on top and bake for
35 to 45 minutes. Serve with hot maple
syrup.

Topping:
1 C brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter, melted
1 cup chopped pecans
