Baked Apples

4 Medium (1-1/4 Pounds) Tart Apples, Peeled, Cored And Sliced
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Teasp. Each Cinnamon And Cloves
1/2 Cup Butter Or Margarine
2 Cups Fresh Bread Crumbs =(4 Slices Bread)

Toss apples with sugar and spices. In skillet melt butter; add crumbs and toss lightly, stirring. In greased 8-inch square baking pan layer half the apples, then half the crumbs. Top with layers remaining apples and crumbs. Bake in preheated 350 degrees oven 45 minutes or until tender.
Makes 4 serving.
